Position: Security Assistant

PRIMARY PURPOSE: 

 

Provide for the safety of all students, faculty, and staff and the security of all high school campus property and equipment. Assist the Principal, Director of Operations, and Security Officer in the development and implementation of procedures that will ensure the protection of all school personnel and property.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

Student Management

  1. Patrol assigned routes walking or driving around buildings and grounds to assist in preventing or detering theft, vandalism and unauthorized entries.
  2. Monitor hallways and other areas of the campus, as assigned.
  3. Enforce district rules and regulations.
  4. Assist in resolving conflict or confrontation between students and report concerns to the administrative team.

Security and Parking

  1. Assist with traffic control and parking on campus grounds during school hours, as assigned.
  2. Inspect and secure doors, windows, lights and gates, as assigned.
  3. Respond and report concerns or problems on the campus to an administrator or designee.
  4. Notify the campus administrator or designee of any situation requiring immediate or prompt attention.
  5. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  6. Complete duties and responsibilities as assigned by the campus principal or designee. 

MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

 

Tools/Equipment Used: District vehicle (if assigned), two-way radio, standard office equipment including computer and peripherals

 

Posture: Prolonged standing and sitting

 

Motion: Strenuous walking and climbing stairs; occasional keyboarding and use of a mouse, moderate driving possible

 

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds)

 

Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); moderate exposure to noise and vehicle exhaust; frequent districtwide travel. May be subjected to adverse and hazardous working conditions; work outdoors in varying climate conditions; subject to drug testing on a random basis.

 

Other: Specific hearing and visual requirements; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions; ability to control sudden aggressive or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.

 

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written);  specific hearing and visual requirements; ability to control sudden violent or sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously

Other Information: The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.

Midpoint:    $14.63 / $20,599

Maximum:  $17.08 / $24,049
