- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid SBEC Educational Aide certificate
- Associate's Degree or 48 or more college hours or NCLB ParaEducator Certification issued by San Jacinto College or other local educational entity
Job Description:
Assist the teacher(s) in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the teacher(s) in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements
- Work under the supervision of teacher(s)
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative guidelines, local board policy and state law
- Assist the teacher(s) in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
- Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher(s)
- Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stoopping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Motion: Frequent walking
- Lifting: Frequent light lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling (less than 15 pounds); occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling (up to 50 pounds)
- Environment: Work inside and outside, regular exposure to noise and the elements
- Mental Demands: Maintain control under stress

The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.
Pay Grade: Paraprofessional, Pay Grade 1, 187 Days
Minimum: $12.04
Midpoint: $14.50
Maximum: $16.97
