Position: Transportation Supervisor, Routing and Logistics

Location:  Support Services Center

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Assist with the daily routing and logistics operations of the La Porte ISD Transportation Department. Ensures all students within district boundaries are routed both effectively and efficiently. This includes home to school routes, after school tutorials, special programs, and summer school.

Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

  1. Build and maintain bus routes each school year.
  2. Coordinate the route selection process and make recommendations to the Director regarding appropriate route placement of employees.
  3. Correspond with Safety Supervisor regarding safety concerns along route paths or bus stops.
  4. Make recommendations to the Director concerning personnel assignment, reassignment, and dismissal as it relates to student safety and behavioral matters.
  5. Maintain district boundary maps, new subdivision maps, and street directories.
  6. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  7. Assist the Director with TEA State Reporting.
  8. Supervise a pool of transportation staff as assigned.
  9. Maintain confidentiality as it relates to students and employees.
  10. Support the District and Transportation Department through strong work ethic and punctual attendance. 

MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

 

Tools/Equipment Used: Radio communication equipment, computer and peripherals. Ability to drive all types of school buses.

Posture: Sitting for extended periods, repetitive use of fingers and hands to operate a keyboard and other office equipment as necessary.

Motion: Frequent sitting, walking bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling.

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying of 50 pounds or greater.

Environment: Work outside and inside with moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes; work around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress, ability to egress from bus and supervise student evacuation from bus in a timely manner during emergency situations, occasional prolonged and irregular hours and occasional out of district travel.

The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.
