Position: JROTC Army Instructor

 

This posting is for the 2023-2024 school year.

 

The Army Instructor assists the Senior Army Instructor in the direction, coordination and supervision of the U.S. Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Program in accordance with the laws, policies and directives of the U.S. Army, La Porte ISD and the school Principal to ensure all program objectives are met.  

 

Plan appropriate learning activities and experiences consistent with the JROTC curriculum and designed to fulfill JROTC students' potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Present JROTC subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), board policies, administrative regulations, and Department Army guidelines. 

 

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Associate's Degree or High School diploma/GED required
• Valid Texas teaching certificate or permit with required endorsements for subject/level assigned
• U.S. Army Cadet Command certification 

Special Knowledge/Skills and Required Experience: 

• Knowledge of JROTC Curriculum
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Appropriate active duty military experience
• Retired from the US military

Salary:                           

Salary - consistent with experience and qualifications.
Starting Teacher Salary - $60,000 (0 years of experience)

 

Pay Grade:

Certified Instructional, 11 Duty Months

The District contributes $400/month to the cost of employee only health insurance, which is $175/month greater than the state required amount of $225/month.
