Position: Clerk, Data Technology

Location:  Instructional Technology Center

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Facilitate the efficient operation of technology office and provide clerical services to the staff as assigned.  Handle confidential information and frequent contact with all levels of district personnel, outside agencies and the general public.

 

Assist with import/export processes relating to student data.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma
  • Advanced clerical training courses
  • At least 48 hours of college credit (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of database designs
  • Proficient skills in typing, word processing, file maintenance and computer skills
  • Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of school district organization and operations preferred

Experience:

  • Three years of secretarial experience preferably in a public education environment

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Receive incoming calls, take reliable messages and route to appropriate staff.
  1. Maintain confidentiality of information.
  1. Process requests and maintains records.
  1. Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
  1. Provide clerical assistance in the technology office as requested.
  1. Exhibit a positive attitude by acting as a role model for district employees, students and the community that supports the missions of the district and/or campus goals.
  1. Demonstrate cooperation by working effectively with others including supervisors, peers, teachers, parents and students.
  1. Demonstrate dependability by being punctual and present at work, unless for good cause.
  1. Exhibit reliability by completing work as assigned and meeting project timelines.
  1. Exhibits poise and self-control in decision making and problem solving relating to job assignment.
  1. Demonstrate initiative by recognizing needs of the job and suggests ways to improve efficiency and productivity.
  1. Comply with policies and procedures pertaining to job assignment.
  1. Demonstrate proper maintenance, care, storage and use of equipment and materials.
  1. Maintain proper safety and security precautions to prevent unnecessary or unreasonable risk of injury to self or others.
  1. Seek to improve job performance through self-assessment, skill development, training and goal setting.
  1. Work with vendor and Information Systems staff in coordinating the import of STAAR scores into student data management system.
  1. Work with Parent Access software, issue usernames and passwords, answer question concerning grades and knowledge on how to use this program to parents.
  1. Reset passwords and answer all e-mails and phone calls dealing with Parent Access software, making sure to make it a priority when parents need help.
  1. Work with V-Soft, helping schools with any questions and concerns on how to use this program and any technical support.
  1. Observe professional standards in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Education Agency code of ethics.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.

Uses computer, printer, copier, calculator and fax machine

Mental Demands:

  • Reading: ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to operate multiple computer programs and multiple types of office machines
  • Ability to work with records and numbers in an accurate and rapid manner
  • Ability to supervise the work of others
  • Office environment with numerous interruptions

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of office equipment
  • Occasional extended work hours

The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.

 

 

Pay Grade: PG 4, 240 Days
