Position:  Foreman, Electrical

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

Responsible for the supervision of all district-wide electrical activities, including the design, planning, installation and repair of all phases of electrical systems and equipment.  Responsible for the replacement, repair and preventative maintenance of all phases of electrical kitchen equipment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:

 

  • GED/High School Diploma (preferred)
  • Valid Texas Drivers License; insurable by district’s insurance carrier
  • Master electrician’s license preferred but not required

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

 

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and construction plans
  • Ability to operate all types of electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the electrical trade and the necessary safety precautions
  • Ability to transform plans into a completed product
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical system malfunctions
  • Knowledgeable of all applicable regulatory requirements for electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings
  • Ability to operate and diagnose all malfunctions in all types of kitchen equipment
  • Possess communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel
  • Knowledge of Fire Safety Codes

Experience:

  • Five years experience as a practicing electrician with supervisory roles preferred

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  1. Maintain, repair or replace kitchen and food lab equipment.
  2. Maintain, repair or replace low voltage electrical systems.
  3. Maintain, repair or replace secondary voltage electrical systems.
  4. Maintain, repair or replace electrical transformers, motors and equipment.
  5. Supervise and schedule all district wide electrical maintenance activities and staff.
  6. Develop and maintain electrical maintenance budget.
  7. Prepare, order and maintain electrical building equipment, materials and supplies.
  8. Receive and disperse materials and equipment to electrical staff.
  9. Purchase all materials and equipment for the electrical staff in accordance with district policy.
  10. Maintain inventory of electrical parts and materials.
  11. Supervise, instruct and schedule training for electrical staff.
  12. Interface with manufacturers to obtain technical data and manuals for existing electrical systems.
  13. Ensure calibration of electronic test equipment.
  14. Determine financial feasibility of repairs or replacement for electrical system components.
  15. Make daily staff assignments and schedule district wide service.
  16. Ensure district compliance with all regulatory agencies involving electrical activities.
  17. Maintain a clean, safe and well-organized work environment.
  18. Assure that the district wide vacuum cleaners and floor equipment is in safe, working order.
  19. Assure that the major equipment in maintenance and classroom shops are in good safe working order (table saws, drill presses, etc.)
  20. Perform preventative maintenance on all kitchen and food lab equipment.
  21. Perform repair work on athletic field lighting towers.
  22. Perform all other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor.
  23. Ensure all District Buildings are current on fire and fire safety codes.
  24. Conduct weekly safety meetings with crew.

 

SUPERVISES:

 

Senior Electrician and Electrician l, Electronic Technician and Electronic Apprentice.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

 

Operates and utilizes all types of electrical and diagnostic equipment and a variety of hand and power tools.  Operates a boom and bucket vehicle and compressed air scaffolding.

  • Ability to read, write and understand written and verbal instructions

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

 

  • Constant walking, standing and climbing; constant stooping, bending and kneeling; ability to lift and carry fifty pounds without assistance
  • Work outside and inside; work around machines with moving parts; work around moving objects and vehicles; work on ladders and/or scaffolding; exposure to electrical shock, gas, sewage, dampness, humidity, toxic chemicals; explosive environments and airborne dusts; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; exposure to extreme temperatures and other irritants
  • Frequent district wide travel

The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.

 

Salary Information: 12 Months, 250 Duty Days, Professional Pay Grade 1
