Position: Transportation Mechanic Helper
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 18 years of age
- High School Diploma/GED (preferred)
- Required or be eligble to obtain and maintain State School Bus Drivers Certification Course
- Required or be eligible to obtain and maintain valid Texas Commerical Drivers License with "P" and "S" endorsements
- Required or be eligible to obtain and maintain state vehicle inspection certification
Job Description: Responsible for the performance of directed and necessary repairs and upkeep of district fleet vehicles as outlined.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acquire and retain basic knowledge of all vehicle operation components and ability to utilize printed service manual for acquisition of additional information.
- Perform preventative maintenance type repairs and inspections including tire repairs, with minimum supervision.
- Perform basic mechanical repairs to chassis, drive train, suspension, electrical, cooling system, hydraulic and air brakes, minor engine repairs to external components to engines with minimum supervision.
- Operate and utilize basic test equipment such as battery and charging system analyzers, air conditioner gauges, compression gauges, etc.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and subject to random testing as outlined in the LPISD Board Policy.
- Drive bus route as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.
