Position: UHCL District Intern Supervisor
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
District Field Supervisors are experienced educators who have distinguished themselves in the field as accomplished professional educators and teacher leaders. They are expected to demonstrate professional responsibility as they perform these primary roles for their UHCL/intern/clinical teacher. They are expected to demonstrate the role of collaborator with the university field supervisor, cooperating teachers, and university administrators and faculty as they work to develop outstanding novice teachers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree
- Texas administrator's or Texas principal or mid-management certificate required
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- ILT/ILD or AEL certification or willing to obtain
- T-TESS appraiser certification or willing to obtain
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Candidate must be vetted by the University of Houston – Clear Lake
Experience:
- Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Campus-wide leadership responsibilities preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- District Field Supervision Responsibilities
Monitor Intern II:
- Attendance
- 8 days of required non-paid sub coverage
- 1 perk day for cooperating teacher
- Intern/clinical teaching assignments
- Documentation of grades
- Documentation of intern/clinical teacher performance
- Documentation of at least 30 days of independent teaching by each intern/clinical teacher
- Creation of Intern/Clinical Teacher calendar
- Experiences
- Transition into independent teaching
- Intern/clinical teacher assignments
- Provide or conduct and lead at least 4-6 professional development seminars with interns/clinical teachers
- Written response to weekly journals submitted by each intern/clinical teacher
- Observe and provide written feedback on a minimum of 3-5 lessons independently planned and implemented by each intern/clinical teacher
- Check in face-to-face with each intern/clinical teacher on a weekly basis providing feedback on:
- Assignments
- Teaching performance
- Professional development
- Work collaboratively with each school to ensure interns/clinical teachers are following district and campus policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with campus administration and cooperating teachers
- Continually assess each intern/clinical teacher’s performance as teachers and guide their professional development
- Attend field supervisor meetings, intern/clinical teacher professional development, etc. at UHCL
- Grading of intern/clinical teaching assignments
- Reflective Teaching Assignments
- Independent Teaching Experience (Performance Observations & Summative Conference)
- Impact on Student Learning
- Professional Responsibilities
- E-Portfolio
