Position: Security Assistant
Job Description:
Provide for the safety of all students, faculty and staff and the security of all high school campus property and equipment. Assist the Principal, Director of Operations and Security Officer in the development and implementation of procedures that will ensure the protection of all high school personnel property.
Qualifications:
- GED/High School Diploma (preferred)
- Certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- General knowledge of criminal investigation, police report writing and criminal laws preferred
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities:
- Patrol assigned routes walking or driving within high school buildings and grounds to prevent or deter theft, vandalism and illegal entries
- Enforce laws, including federal and state statutes, city ordinances and district rules and regulations
- Inspect and secure doors, windows, lights and gates when building is vacant
- Respond and report to any administrator concerning security problems on the high school campus
- Notify campus authority of any situation requiring immediate or prompt attention
- Prepare offense and incident reports and ensure thoroughness of information
- Control traffic and parking on the school campus
- Give directions or act as a guide to authorized visitors
- Subject to responsibilities as assigned by the campus principal

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing, ability to operate a motor vehicle; specific hearing and visual requirements; ability to control sudden violent or sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously
- May be subjected to adverse and hazardous working conditions
- Work outdoors in varying climate conditions
- Subject to drug testing on a random basis
