Job Descriptions:
Coordinate the district’s special programs to ensure provision of needed services for eligible students. Work to provide individualized programs to meet the needs of all eligible students and ensure compliance with all state, federal and local requirements.
Job Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Special Education Certification
- Principal Certification or Mid-Management Certification
- T-Tess Certified or willing to obtain
- Three years of teaching experience
- Administrative experience preferred

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with campus personnel to facilitate Multi-tiered systems of support for special education, Section 504 and dyslexia services to meet students’ needs.
- Evaluate student progress on a regular, systematic basis, with the findings being utilized to make the special education, Section 504, and dyslexia programs more effective and addressing programmatic needs.
- Facilitate the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.
- Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers to pilot such efforts when appropriate.
- Coordinate monthly Child Find screenings and meetings with ECI representatives to support transition of eligible students in La Porte ISD.
- Plan, implement and supervise the Extended School Year (ESY) Program for students recommended through the ARD process.
- Serve as resource person for admission, review, and dismissal and Section 504 committees as needed.
- Provide staff development training to assist school personnel in the identification and understanding of students with disabilities and dyslexia.
- Assist classroom teachers with the implementation of the IEP or Section 504 plan.
- Consult with parents concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of assessment data.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents required.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and the local board policy in the area of assessment, placement, and planning for special education, Section 504 and dyslexia services.
- Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and the campus performance objectives (Academic Excellence Indicators).
- Obtain and use evaluative findings, including student achievement data to examine the effectiveness of special education services.
- Ensure staff implementation of school improvement efforts consistent with federal and state law.
- Assess and respond to needs related to special education and communicate such needs to the Executive Director of Special Programs.
- Assist with a continuing evaluation of the special education and dyslexia instructional program and implement changes based on the findings.
- Train teachers on STAAR Alternate procedures. Monitor the administration of STAAR Alternate and submission into the on-line system.
- Assist in the selection of instructional materials and equipment.
- Supervise and evaluate professional and paraprofessional staff as assigned.

Salary:
- Minimum = $78,996/Annual
- Midpoint = $95,174/Annual
- Maximum = $111,352/Annual

The district contributes $370/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $145/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.
