Position: High School Registrar

 

Location: The La Porte ISD Academy of Viola DeWalt High School

 

Responsible for maintaining student academic records at the campus level under minimal supervision. Process student enrollment, transfers, and withdrawals for the campus.

 

 

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Knowledge of school district organization and operations preferred
  • Proficient skills in typing, word processing, file maintenance and computers
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Exeperience:
  • Three years of clerical or secretarial experience, preferably in a public school environment
  • Experience in maintenance of student records preferred, but not required

Job Description:

 

Direct and manage the operations of the registrar’s office. Ensure the accurate maintenance of student transcripts, academic achievement records and cumulative student records. Handle confidential information and frequent contract with all level of district employees and state/federal governmental agencies. Interface with the personnel and information systems offices concerning campus personnel and student records.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  • Manage the operations and evaluate the procedures of the high school registrar’s office.
  • Prepare and maintain PEIMS reports including student/teacher demographics, student/teacher schedules and vocational technology programs.
  • Maintain student transcripts and academic achievement records in accordance with state and local requirements.
  • Certify students for graduation and prepare associated diplomas.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information for all areas of the campus.
  • Assist in the preparation of the campus master schedule as assigned.
  • Maintain all office equipment in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Promote positive school/community relations.
  • Interface with other school districts concerning student transfer records.
  • Interface with the personnel and information systems offices concerning campus personnel and student records.
  • Supervise the enrollment of students.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of student graduation ceremonies.
  • Responsible for verification of student course credits and the grade level promotion of students.
  • Compile data and prepare reports requested by campus or central administration.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude by acting as a role model for district employees and the community that supports the mission of the district. 
  • Exhibit reliability be completing work as assigned and meeting project time lines.
  •  Comply with policies and procedures pertaining to job assignment.
  •  Maintain confidentiality of information.
  •  Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

 

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

 

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

 

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours

 

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

The district contributes $370/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $145/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.

 

 

Pay Grade: Paraprofessional PG 6, 240 days
