Position: Tutor, College Student
(Hired as a Substitute)
Locations: TBA
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Work with small groups of students to provide targeted instruction, based on campus, grade level and student needs.
Job Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Enrolled in college courses
Special Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of subjects assigned
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with children preferred, but not required
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- With support from teacher(s), prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
- Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies and administrative regulations.
- Use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect accommodating individual needs of student assigned.
- Conduct formal/informal assessments as needed and utilize the results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to plan targeted intervention lessons.

Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established by Individual Education Plans (IEP).

Work cooperatively with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives and methods according to district requirements.
Other Information:
- Tutor, College Student Substitute positions are available on an "as-needed" basis. Days may vary; pending campus needs as determined by the principal.
- Applicants must attend the LPISD orientation meeting prior to beginning tutoring.
