Counselor, Elementary

Location:  Lomax Elementary 

 

 

Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive program of guidance, including counseling services to school assigned. Use a planning process to define needs and priorities of the population served. Provide a proactive, developmental guidance and counseling program for all students to maximize personal, academic, social, and emotional growth and development.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of successful teaching experience
  • Master's Degree
  • Valid Texas SBEC Counselor's certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Knowledge of counseling protocols and procedures
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Teach campus developmental guidance curriculum consistent with district’s guidance program plan and tailored to campus needs
  • Plan school guidance and counseling programs to ensure programs meet identified needs, priorities, and objectives
  • Counsel individual students and small groups with presenting needs and concerns
  • Supervise assigned paraprofessional/clerical staff, as needed

The District contributes $400/month to the cost of employee only health insurance, which is $175/month greater than the state required amount of $225/month.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Mental Demands:May work prolonged or irregular hours. Ability to communicate (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress

 

 

Pay:

Minimum:   $63,818

Midpoint:    $76,022

Maximum:  $88,267
