Position: Assistant Principal, Secondary
Location: James H. Baker 6th Grade Campus
2023-2024 School Year
Primary Purpose:
Assist in the direction and management of the instructional program and in the supervision of operations at the campus level. Provide instructional leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service. Assist in the implementation of district policies and instructional programs and in management of all campus activities and services.
Job Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Texas administrator's or Texas principal or mid-management certificate required
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- ILT/ILD or AEL certification, or willing to obtain
- T-TESS appraiser certification, or willing to obtain
Experience:
- Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Campus-wide leadership responsibilities and experiences preferred
Special Skills:
- Knowledge of campus operations
- Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
- Ability to manage budget and personnel
- Ability to implement policy and procedures
- Ability to interpret data
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Serve as an instructional leader, communicator of high expectations to students, staff, and parents for positive student behavior and collegial school climate. Share supervisory responsibility for both paraprofessional and professional staff, as assigned by the campus principal.
Salary:
Minimum: $75,073
Midpoint: $89,476
Maximum: $103,880
Pay Grade: Administrative Pay Grade 2, 11-Duty Months

La Porte ISD contributes $400/monthly to employee only health insurance, which is $175/monthly greater than the state-required minimum contribution of $225/monthly.
